While travelling to a new city, hotels come across as the most ideal lodging option. They are better than guest houses and bread & breakfast in every aspect and cheaper than exotic holiday resorts. This is the reason why hotel rooms in Ahmedabad are always a popular choice amidst the classes and the masses. The rooms are always laden with all sorts of amenities and facilities that play a big part in improving the stay experience. However, a little caution must be practised while paying for these hotel rooms.

The majority of hotels in the city demand advance payment at the time of booking, whereas some hotels do settle at a partial payment. But, before you click “pay now”, you must understand a few things. Here they are-

Every hotel has a cancellation policy. So, before you book the hotel, you must read about its cancellation policy. Make sure you go through each and every word.

Cancellation policy varies from hotel to hotel and hence, it is important to be aware of the rules and policies of the hotel in question. Generally, the hotels in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, demand a 24-hour notice before you cancel your reservation, while, there are some hotels that let you cancel the reservation 48 to 72 hours before your arrival date. There are some hotels that charge a cancellation fee. If you have booked the hotel via a third-party website, you must read their policies as well. 

·         Incidental deposits and extras

While checking in, you must ask the hotel about their incidental charges. The hotel should specify how much the credit card will be authorized for incidental buys like minibar, room service, etc. This actually varies from hotel to hotel.

The hotels in Ahmedabad, Gujarat tell incidental amount to the guests at the time of booking but if your hotel hasn’t told you yet, you must ask this at the time of check-in.

Some hotels also notify their guests about the other extra charges that are not included in the room rate like resort fee, parking, fitness centre access, etc. while some mention these charges on their official website. You must check them before booking the hotel.

Many times people book hotel rooms in Ahmedabad using their debit card even when they don’t have enough money in their bank account to cover the rate of the room, additional taxes and incidental charges and extras. With this, they end up paying more at the end due to high total temporary charges. Unlike credit cards, there is no hold while using debit cards; the amount is actually deducted from the account. And, it takes a long time for the money to find its way back into your account after the hotel initiates a refund after you check-out.
