Situated in Maharashtra, Thane was originally known as Sristhanaka, named after Lord Ganesha. It is one of the most widely populated cities in India and is home to numerous industries including chemicals, textiles, engineering products etc.

Thane is also in close proximity to a number of other attractions such as the Titwala Ganesh Mandir, Suddhagad Fort, Jawahar Palace, Matheran etc.
