1. Location
The Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is surrounded by the Dalma Hills, spreading about 195 square kilometers from East Singbhum to the Saraikela-Kharsawan districts of Jharkhand.

2. Flora and Fauna
The forest cover mainly comprises the Dry Peninsular Sal and the Northern Dry Mixed Deciduous Forest. The inhabitants of the wildlife sanctuary include elephants, sloth bears, barking deer, gaurs and porcupines. Due to the presence of a large number of elephants, the wildlife sanctuary is also known as the “Paradise for the Elephants”. Bird species of Grey Hornbills, falcons, peafowl, kingfishers, robins, herons and pigeons are found here.

3. Activities to do
There is a small Shiva temple inside the forest reserve. Adventurous people go for trekking in the steep slopes and rugged topography of the reserve. To absorb the unique atmosphere of the forest, one can do night stays in various accommodations inside the forest. There is also a museum and a Natural Interpretation Centre in the forest.  

4. Best time to visit 
Barring the monsoon season, the wildlife sanctuary can be visited any time of the year from October to June during the morning and afternoon time of the day.

5. How to reach
Most tourists stay in the cheap and good hotels in Jamshedpur since the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary is just 10 km from the city. The nearest railway station is Chandil railway Station and the nearest airport is Ranchi Airport.
