Vizag Diaries

Vizag, also known as Vishakhapatnam, is the largest city of Andhra Pradesh and is also known as the financial capital of the state. Nestled near the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal, the city boasts a rich history and cultural heritage. It has been a part of the kingdom of Kalinga as well as the Vijayanagara Empire, the Chola dynasty, and the Mughal Empire. It has also come under the French and British rule and bears influences of all the above.

Borra Caves


One of the largest caves in the country, these caves feature a majestic array of stalactites and stalagmites in varying sizes which were created because of the Gosthanii River. They are located at 1,400 meters above the sea level and offer spectacular views.


Araku Valley

A hill station located close to Vizag, Araku valley is a tourist favorite. A scenic valley, it offers breath-taking views of lush green surroundings, beautiful rivers, waterfalls, and gardens.

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

Named after the former Prime Minister of India, this park is located amidst the Kambalakonda Reserve Forest and was opened to the public on 19th May 1977. Spread over sprawling 625 acres, it has special sections for primates, lesser carnivores, carnivores, small mammals, reptiles, ungulates, and birds.

It also houses a biosphere center and a library.
